The devil wears Havaianas!!!

The Devil wears Havaianas and here are 3 reasons why:

1. While he was driving a big- ass off-road black jeep in his brown Havaianas Top, I had to drive the mommy SUV.
2. While he was running around town in a vintage porsche and his Havaianas Originals, I had to drive a prius. ( Okay, so the Prius is pretty darn cool and the Prius' doors never opened whenever you used the wind shield wipers BUT a vintage porsche is high up there in the cool factor)

3. Today, we were discussing what family car to get here in Singapore and he refuses to even consider getting my dream car.....

Ta daaa!!!!!The Fiat Jolly.....




Now, tell me this isn't the perfect car for a Havaianista?!!!! Puh-leeze!!!!Well- engineered cars with good safety ratings are for people with no imagination!!!



J, here are 3 reasons why we should get the 1960 Fiat Jolly:

1. If it's good enough for Tina Turner, it's good enough for me. So what if it doesn't have air condition?!! Check out the wicker chairs! It's like riding on your garden chairs! So fresh and breezy!


2. It is cute and will match all my Havaianas. Who cares if it wont fit the grocery bags from cold storage?!! That's why they invented DE-LI-VERY!!!





3. I'm foot-stamping mad at you and if you want to be my friend again, you'd better reconsider. BTW, I am holding all your Havaianas for ransom until further notice....

A love letter to my favorite birthday boy!

While the saying above might be true, marriage also lets you discover new and surprising things to love about one special person for the rest of your life.

Here are 3 new things I bet you didn't know I love about you, J:

1. I find it so cute that you love anything that has to do with water: Swimming, bathing, taking a shower, sailing, fishing, watching the rain, owning an aquarium, scuba-ing, surfing, watering the plants.......

2. Knowing how easy you are to gross out, I appreciate how you valiantly changed mini-sassy's diapers and never ever complain about having to pick up the doggie's poop.

3. I love that you always say you love my cooking ( even when I burn the eggs) and boast about it to anybody with half an ear!


4. I love how we can both geek out about Havaianas all the time!

Okay, that's four- but it is really hard to stick to a number because there are so many things about you, big and small, that take my breath away every day.

THE HAVAIANISTA Cocktail......

Wouldn't it be so fun to have a Havaianas Beach Party?

Let's see... we'll need big speakers, a cool DJ, a chilled fruit and salad buffet and we can unveil my latest cocktail concoction... THE HAVAIANISTA:

Ingredients:
1 shot Cachaca ( brazilian liquor)
some 7 up or sprite
a squeeze of lime
1 tbsp. sugar syrup
a slice of lime for garnish
and lots of ice.

Mix all ingredients in a tall glass.
So Refreshing!
Great on a hot, hot, hot beach party day!
Oh! And we need to invite Johnny Depp! K?

My crafty sister, Edith is here for a visit. Maybe while " touring" her around Singapore, I'll score some fabric in Arab Street and then, I'll lock poor E. up in a room till she cranks out some DIY ethnic dresses in the old sewing machine.....HMMMMMMM....

Straw Fedoras, Panama Hats and Havaianas....

Just got back from Beautiful Bali!
My sisters discovered this store called Biasa ( I'm sure you've all heard about it but it was my first time there)! The clothes were so wearable and chic and it was a wonderland of straw hats and silk scarves. Oh how I wanted to move in and live there!

I have a thing for straw hats and fedoras. I just think they go marvelously well with Havaianas. This was the picture that started my hat obsession: Delfina Figueras watching her husband play polo in the Hamptons....

So that summer, I scored a cheap straw fedora from Urban Outfitters. Some people might have called it "too small for your head" and I called it "jauntily sitting atop my forehead".

One day, I showed up in my too small/ jaunty Fedora at my cousin's pool side, and she loudly exclaimed:" It's Britney, bitch!"


Now, there are those who do not mind being likened to Ms. Spears and would have hummed "Oops I did it again" while pole dancing all the way to the beer bar.
I mean BRITNEY?!!!
Giovanna Battaglia, Ines de la Fressange, Sofia Coppola, Carine Roitfeld- these are the women whose aesthetic sensibilities I try to emulate! The mere mention of Brit- Brit and my love affair with the Fedora died.

But then.... yesterday my heart went pitter-patter and I dared to flirt with a few straw Fedoras in Biasa. They just looked so darned good with my Havaianas!

Should straw Fedoras make a comeback ala Britney in my closet?
